The Hare & Hounds was situated on Lane Ends Lane. This 400 year old building had been a pub since the 1840s. It closed in September 2025 and was sold by Taylors' Brewery to property developers who applied to Calderdale Council in January 2026 for approval to convert into a private residence. As of July 2026 the application was still pending consideration. Wadsworth Community Assets were trying to have the property listed as a Valued Community Asset. It featured in the Channel 4 programme "Perfect Pub Walks" 1 October 2025 with Alexander Armstrong and James May.
