The Crown & Cushion was situated on Birchfield Road. This pub closed c2015 and was converted to a restaurant called African Village. The building replaced the previous pub building of the same name on the same site in the 1980s.  There once was a pub opposite on Birchfield Road of the same name that locals called the ‘little' Crown and Cushion and the above pub or rather the previous incarnation, the ‘big’ or old Crown and Cushion. Following the rejection of a planning application to build flats on the premises car park, this building was destroyed in a fire in January 2020 and has now been demolished.
