The Bridge Hotel was situated on Queen Street. This pub was established in 1814 and survived until around 1930 when it partially collapsed when its foundations were undermined by the River Arun.  A replacement Bridge Hotel was built in 1935 but this eventually closed down and was demolished in 1988.
