Shotover Arms

Shotover Arms, Oxford

The Shotover Arms was situated at 298 London Road, Headington. This pub is now used as a McDonalds.

We were the managers of the pub from 2 August 1970 – 21 May 1971.

August 1970   Weekly wages - Chris wages £17 and Sue £4.10.0d (less £3 per week she had to pay back to the Brewery for the catering rights!).  After six months Chris had a pay rise of £2.50 and Sue had a reduction of 10p.

4 February 1971 Britain converted to decimal currency while we were at the pub and so we had this to contend with as well as the normal problems of running a pub!!
