In 1903, Vladimir Lenin, Leon Trotsky and about 50 other committed agitators who wanted to overthrow the autocratic rule of the Russian Tsar held a very important meeting in this pubs function room which affected world history.  Lenin had lived in Clerkenwell in 1902 and returned for various communist international meetings when they couldn’t hold them in mainland Europe. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-41629394

Michael Newton 1960-1980 My grandmother was Francis (Frankie) Brooks. Frankie owned the pub. As grandchildren my mother June, along with her brothers, my uncles Bill and Brian Brooks and her sister Kay took myself with my 3 brothers Paul, Andrew and Mark and all my cousins down there very often. Many fond memories like pulling my first pint of watneys red barrel when I was 11 years old.
