The Mildmay Tavern was situated at 130 Balls
Pond Road. |

I used to be a barmaid in the this pub in the 1980s when it used to be run
by Jn and John Gill. It used to be a mod pub and have bands there regularly;
Kathy Burke from TV's Kevin and Perry use to drink with me in there and also
Adam French who use to to be in Just Good Friends. The group The Jam turned
up in there on one of the mod nights before they were really famous. It was
well known for the mods and a regular haunt for them and there were always
scraps outs inside with skinheads. I can tell you a few stories about that
pub and I class it as part of my life and loved the days when it was a mod
pub and everybody looked out for each other. |
