The Britannia was situated at 279 Mare Street. It was renamed The Samuel Pepys after WWII. Demolished and rebuilt in 2004 as the Marie Lloyd Bar, now Stage 3 at 289 Mare Street.

Bill Cannock 1970s I was a regular in this pub mid-late 70s. It had a regular local clientele with a strong Irish contingent. Occasional live celidh on Saturdays, lots of hard drinking went on with the occasional fighting! Had some good sessions there.
