The Royal Duke was situated at 474 Commercial Road. This pub was present by 1839 and closed in 1995.  In its latter days it was briefly renamed Duke’s.  It had been a Truman’s Brewery pub and the premises now contain a small supermarket.  Some good, old Truman’s signage can still be seen on the upper floors.
