The Royal George was situated at 7 Selby Street. This pub was present by 1891 and between the years 1892 and 1956 the licence was held by just one couple, Henry & Clara Friswell.  The Truman’s Brewery pub was rebuilt as part of the redevelopment of the area in the 1950s  It had closed by the 1980s and is now occupied by a cafe.
