My Grandad (James Melia) was publican
of the Jamaica between the wars and during WWII. My Dad (John Melia), the
youngest of 5 children, was born upstairs in the pub in 1930. He used to
tell stories of Grandad's sporting almanac which was kept behind the bar to
settle arguments about football scores and remembered the pub's windows
being blown out during WWII but no-one being worried about looting so they
weren't boarded up. |
