I can tell you what happened to The Australian
the pub that was on the corner of Great Crosshall Street and Fontenoy Street
(diagonally opposite The Dart pub). I remember walking into work one morning
and the fierce overnight storm had lifted the entire roof off in one piece
and dumped it into the middle of Great Crosshall Street like a hardback
book, completely blocking it. This might have been 1987; the derelict shell
of the pub ramained for several years but it was finally demolished in 1993. |
