Man Of Kent

Man Of Kent, Sevenoaks

Site of The Man Of Kent

The Man Of Kent was situated at 1 Sandy Lane. This pub has now been demolished and replaced by new housing.
The Man Of Kent had a vibrant folk club that used to meet weekly (every Saturday evening, I believe) upstairs. ‘Members’ of the club (there was no official membership) would take turns to sing songs and guest musicians would be invited along. I remember that John Smedley (later organiser of the Sevenoaks Summer Festival) was very involved with the folk scene at the pub and I used to go along with one of his sons, Kevin. It’s a tragedy that the Man of Kent is no more!

Michael Henderson 1980s My Father in Law used to run this pub, Alan "Rasher" Smith and his wife Rita. He is in ill health and would be interested in any pictures of the pub from that time.
