The Greyhound

The Greyhound, Maidstone

The Greyhound was situated at 77 Wheeler Street. This pub closed in 2009.

My father was born in the Greyhound in 1896. He lived there till he was about 12 and 'ran away from home'. His father died in about 1905 and due to the law at the time his mother could not hold the licence, she had to marry. Dad and his new father did not get on, so Dad left home and went into service.
