The Garden Gate was situated on Bromley Road. This pub was built in 1953 when two cottages which stood at the corner of Ashgrove Road and Old Bromley Road were demolished. Closed in 2006 it is now used as a branch of McDonalds.

The pub was called The Garden Gate because of where it was situated, straddling the areas of London and kent. And Kent is the garden of England.
