Spotted Bull

Spotted Bull, St Albans

The Spotted Bull was situated at 43 Verulam Road. Originally four freehold cottages which were amalgamated to become a public house by the late 19th Century. Located in a residential area, the pub became run down before being converted into The Brickyard - a cocktail bar. Complaints from residents saw the premises closed by 2016: the owner later converted the premises into a five-bedroom house.

Glyn Lake 1970/1971 Lived here after our flat in Luton was sold until our new house in Market Harborough was completed. The landlord was Charlie Porter assisted by his wife Rose, my father-in-law and mother-in-law. The pub was a typical town pub of the 70's. My most vivid memory is how cold the bedrooms were..
