Welcome Inn, Petersfield

The Welcome Inn was situated at 1 Station Road. A large free-standing pub,  it was demolished sometime around the late 1980s or perhaps early '90s and replaced with a modern housing estate. It was previously known as The Volunteer Arms.

Chris Smith 1974/1976 My parents ran this pub from 1973-1976. Their names were Ken and Rita smith. Both passed away in the late 90s. I was only 7 through to 9 at the time but some of my happiest memories as a child. Loved the school and had some great friends, a busy pub mainly functions in the big back room.
Gloria Saundry (Cleife) 1979/1986 I was the Landlady of the lovely public house until it closed. which was such a shame, as it was beautiful. I did may wedding receptions, wakes etc, in the function room, Every Sunday was a Country & Western evening, with people coming from miles around. I have very happy memories of this lovely pub. It was run by my husband and myself Roy & Gloria Cleife.
