The White Horse was situated at 121 West Street. This pub has now been demolished and replaced with retail units. The White Horse “Pavilion” was a wooden hut at the rear of the licensed premises. It stood next to the new Post Office, which replaced the older one a few doors further down in the 1960s. it was frequented by lads from the local Navy base and it had a bit of a 'reputation'. It is now 'The Slot Casino'. Present by 1857 when the publican was John Nicholson.
