The Royal Oak was located at 90 Victoria
Road. It was closed in October 1985 and later demolished to enable the
building of a ring road system around Romford town centre. It was situated
where Thurloe Gardens cuts across Victoria road (where the white car is in
the above photo). |

My Camra branch (SW Essex) tried to save this
gem. They served Charrington IPA (not wonderful but also an acquired taste)
and Crown bitter. I recall speaking at a hearing. Shame it was demolished,
Romford was not over burdened with good pubs. |
