I worked as a part time barman at this pub, when the
landlord and landlady were Pat and Dave Reynolds. It was owned by Greene
King. Dave put an old fairground roundabout in the garden and on a
summers day the pub and g a teen were so packed cars would be parked
along the road in both directions. |

1951-1953 |
My father, Charlie Wust. was publican here
for 3 years. Though a butcher by training coming from a line of German
butchers he had always wanted a pub and settled on the Mad Dog when the
family who had run it for aeons retired. It proved to be too much work
for little reward and he eventually emigrated to Canada. The locals were
a great group but I have been able to maintain a connection through Bed
School where I completed 6 great years. |
